Dear Heritage Enthusiast,
Museums and heritage organizations are like icebergs- ninety percent of what we are made up of is not visible to the eye, but underpins the ten percent that renders what we do indispensable. These days this analogy seems more apt than ever.
Thomas McCulloch's commitment to education, history and community building has left a remarkable legacy. Today the Hector Exhibit Centre preserves in his stead, working to enshrine the stories of our collective memory, protect aspects of our material culture and engage a new generation with the accumulated knowledge of those that have gone before. Not unlike McCulloch's struggle, the work of heritage conservation enjoys a small albeit passionate support base.
Heritage is one of our most valuable and irreplaceable possessions. Resourses are of the cornerstone of heritage conservation. As an organization, we are committed to professional collection, preservation and interpretation standards, all of which regularly evolve. In order to help us keep pace our campaign goal is to increase our operating budget.
These funds will be used to improve our services in the following areas:
-Maintain accessibility and responsiveness to our stakeholders, meeting growing demand;
-Document and conserve our backlog of heritage material and new acquisitions;
-Improve our visibility and relevance through a network of new partnerships;
-Develop outreach programming with teachers and students;
-Develop an archival service for various groups and organizations throughout the region;
-Maintain an optimal environment for our expanding collection and make facility improvements that enhance visitor experience;
-Retain talent and attract the expertise of trained conservators, archivists and other heritage professionals.
In short, we wish to better serve, collect, preserve and share the moments of our collective history, and we can guarantee that your gift has a direct link to future generations.
